Virginia KidWind Challenge

KidWind is the company behind the model wind turbine that NEED uses in their teacher workshops on wind energy and that we use or build in our classrooms to teach the students about how wind turbines work and how blades are designed. In 2010 they offered a KidWind Challenge in New York and Texas and are planning many other around the country this year. These challenges are regional or state wide and offer students a chance to compete in building a model wind turbine to see who can generate the most electricity with their design. We are planning a KidWind Challenge for Spring 2012 in coordination with our annual Wind for Schools Summit. Please see KidWind's Kid Wind Challenge website for details about Challenges. Stay tuned for information about the Virgnia competition in the coming months. We plan to offer teacher trainings on the Challenge over the summer of 2011 in preparation for the 2012 school year.
